Local food of Gargano

The B&B Belvedere offers its guests the opportunity to taste and buy typical products of the culinary tradition of Gargano directly.

The local food are:

Olive oil

Olio d'oliva

Every year in November, take place the traditional olive harvest, from the olive trees surrounding the villa. It is produced by a typical cultivar of Gargano, called “Ogliarola”, an olive characterized by deep green color, with a slightly spicy aftertaste, good for dishes like “Pan cotto”or “chicory and beans with bread toasted”; ideal for salads, bruschetta and the typical “bread and tomato” along with many other dishes.

Olive oil is collected directly in our countryside and is served to our customers, without any additions.

 

Fresh home made pasta

Pasta fresca

Orecchiette, “Fus” macaroni, noodles, dumplings and more are just some of the types of fresh pasta made by in our restaurant directly from the chef Angela. Come along to taste a plate of home-made orecchiette with turnip tops or classic with tomato and “cacioricotta”, you will not regret.

 

Cavicione di Ischitella

Cavicione di Ischitella

The “Cavicione” Ischitella, is a bakery product typical of Ischitella, consists of a large calzone, stuffed with onion, raisins and anchovies; It is a typical dish of the Easter period, a very particular taste and pleasant at the same time.

 

White wine taralli

Taralli are typical biscuits, with flour, eggs and white wine. Ideal for your breakfast or to accompany a glass of red wine, white or Moscato wine.
On request you can also request the salty version, as well as other baked goods.

Calzoncelli

The calzoncelli are typical buscits-dessert of Apulia region and Gargano, are made with chickpeas and stuffed with cocoa or chocolate according to the tastes and variations of individual village.
They are delicious and are typical of the Christmas period, they can be ordered on demand along with the famous sweets, typical of Ischitella.

 

Cartellate

Cartellate

Cartellate or “crustl” (slang name of Ischitella) are the typical Christmas dessert made with flour and stuffed with “vincotto” or honey; to combine with a local Moscato wine or sweet red wine, they are excellent served after a meal.
